ABSTRACT: This article provides a comprehensive assessment of the strategic potential of Kazakhstan’s banking sector based on a comparative analysis of six financial institutions: Halyk Bank JSC, Kaspi Bank JSC, Forte Bank JSC (Republic of Kazakhstan), Sberbank PJSC (Russia), JPMorgan Chase (USA), and ICBC (China). Using SWOT analysis methodology, a system of key financial indicators, and benchmarking international practices, the authors identify competitive gaps and formulate five strategic development areas for Kazakhstani banks in an environment of intense competition, geopolitical instability, and accelerated digital transformation. The results of the study can be used in the strategic planning of second-tier banks in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
